Our community partnership with Archway in Dyce continues to grow, providing our Full Moon children with meaningful opportunities to contribute to their local community and see the positive difference their actions can make.
Following our earlier involvement in supporting the development of Archway's outdoor garden, a group of Full Moon children visited the service alongside Serena and Marie to help with the next stage of the project.
Before the visit, the children had decorated tyres which were returned to Archway and transformed into colourful planters within the garden. Banana Moon Dyce also donated a selection of plants for the children to help add to the outdoor space.
During their visit, the children were actively involved in planting, watering and helping to care for the garden. They worked together, listened to instructions and confidently took part in the different tasks, with using the garden hose proving to be a particularly popular part of the experience.
The visit provided valuable opportunities for the children to learn beyond the nursery environment and understand what it means to contribute positively to their local community. By becoming directly involved in the project, the children were able to see how their ideas, creativity and actions could become part of something that would be used and appreciated by others.
Experiences such as these support children to develop confidence, communication and cooperation while encouraging kindness, responsibility and respect for others. They also help children build a stronger sense of belonging and understand that they can play an active role within the communities around them.
We would like to thank Iona for warmly welcoming the children and encouraging them to become involved throughout the visit, as well as Andrew for his support on the day. Our thanks also go to Michelle at Archway for helping to organise the opportunity and supporting the development of this valuable partnership.
We are proud of the way our Full Moon children represented Banana Moon Dyce and embraced the opportunity to help others. Seeing the children move from decorating the tyres at nursery to visiting Archway, planting flowers and contributing directly to the garden made the experience particularly meaningful.
Building genuine relationships with local organisations allows us to provide children with real-life learning experiences that extend beyond the nursery. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Archway and creating further opportunities for our children to connect with, contribute to and learn from their local community.
