Celebrating Scotland’s Big Win Through Creative Learning
Our Full Moon and Baby Moon children were full of excitement today as they proudly celebrated Scotland’s big win last night! To build on their enthusiasm and create a meaningful learning experience, the children spent the morning designing and making their very own Scotland flags.
Using a variety of materials, they explored textures, practised their cutting and gluing skills, and used mark-making tools to recreate the blue and white colours of the Scottish flag. The sense of pride as they waved their finished creations was a joy to see.
This celebration offered a wealth of rich learning opportunities and linked closely with Banana Moon’s Early Learning and Development Programme (ELDP) and our wider curriculum. Through this activity, the children developed:
- Fine motor skills — using scissors, glue, and craft materials with control
- Communication and language — discussing the match, sharing thoughts, and learning new vocabulary
- Understanding of the world — exploring Scottish identity, national symbols, and community celebration
- Creative expression — selecting materials, designing their flags, and expressing their excitement through art
It was a wonderful day filled with teamwork, curiosity, and a strong sense of Scottish pride. A fantastic example of how real-life events can be brought into our learning to inspire and engage our youngest learners.
