📚 World Book Day Library Visit 📚
To celebrate World Book Day, some of our children enjoyed a special trip to the local library. Some arrived dressed as their favourite book characters, while others came just as their wonderful selves, ready for a new adventure with books.
During the walk to the library, the children enjoyed spotting and counting different vehicles, including red cars, yellow cars and buses. We also talked about road safety, using SIMOA (Safety, Inspect, Monitor, Observe, Act) to help the children think about their surroundings and travel safely together.
When we arrived at the library, we discussed the rules and expectations for visiting such a special place. The librarians were very complimentary about how well the children conducted themselves, describing them as respectful, mindful and excellent listeners.
One of the librarians kindly read a story to the group, and one of the children proudly recited The Gruffalo, which everyone listened to with great excitement. The children then had time to explore books that interested them, sharing conversations, discoveries and lots of smiles with their friends.
Before leaving, the children chose several books to bring back to the nursery, including stories about sharing and kindness. It was clear they had a wonderful time, reflected in their smiles, laughter and enthusiastic conversations throughout the day.
